Amsterdam, July 6, 2004

I had to do lot’s of things on July 6, because it was a special day: Heather became 37 and I had to check the email before I concentrate on Heather’s performance later that night. That’s why I woke up at 6:30 a.m. and checked the email for the birthday page that you can find at heathernova.us/birthday/

I arrived at 8:30 p.m. and the atmosphere was overwhelmed with joy and happiness. The crowd went crazy when Heather hit the stage and started to sing ‘Like lovers do’. She looked great on stage and all warmed up for the ‘birthday gig’. Especially when you know that she gave birth to her son Sebastian on January 26.

It was busy but the good atmosphere brought everybody in a good mood and a few people, including me, started to sing “Happy birthday” impatiently, after ‘Like lovers do’ and Heather said “It is nice to be here in Amsterdam on my birthday.” he also said a thank you for the email that she received and ended with the words ‘it was fun’.
Heather proofed once more that she is one of the best female performers nowadays because her voice sounded like a nightingale. She also played, to my surprise, the song ‘Someone New’ (you can watch the video clip under the section “Multimedia, Someone new”) that she did together with the Swedish band Eskobar.

Glen Scot, the man on keyboards & backing vocals, stood up after a couple of songs and said to Heather: “Today is your birthday and we’re going to sing a song for you instead.” And the crowd started to sing the ‘Happy birthday to you’ song together with Glen and the other band members. After the happy birthday song, someone in the audience started to sing the Dutch version of the song, followed by the rest of the crowd. “Lang zal ze leven, lang zal ze leven in de gloria. In de gloria” Translated “Long she will live, long she will live in the glory. In the glory.”

The last song she performed with the band was “Drink it in.” Then she left the stage and returned to sing her song “Storm”as an encore.
